Meet the Owners

Kayla Smith

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Spouse gifted with the artistic ability to create unique one-of-a-kind decor designed for any home or office. Kayla grew up in the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee near the Kentucky border where she spent her days swinging on grapevines and playing in creeks.

Prior to owning More Than Crafts, she served the community as a Licensed Practical Nurse giving love to the elderly in nursing homes across the country. Along with her service to the community, she selflessly raised their children while accompanying her husband to multiple states during his military service.

Jason Smith

A retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer, and combat veteran who served his country for over twenty years. His career took him to several countries and many locations throughout America. During his time in service he taught at formal military schools, taught high risk training courses, led thousands of troops during operations and provided medical care to the sick and injured at home and abroad.

Jason also grew up in East Tennessee where he spent most of his formative years hanging out with his mother, who sold cars in the 1980's, on the car lot where she worked. When he wasn't doing that, his dad had him hiking the Appalachian Mountains, fishing at one of the lakes in the area, and hunting all types of indegious wildlife.

The Backstory

We’re a proud veteran- and spouse-owned small business, created in loving honor of two remarkable women who continue to inspire everything we do — both named Barbara.

Jason's Mother had a gift for bringing joy to others through her breathtaking, handcrafted floral arrangements. Her creativity and attention to detail taught us the beauty of seeing art in everyday life.                Kayla's Mother found her peace at the pottery wheel, shaping raw clay into graceful, meaningful pieces that carried a bit of her spirit in every curve and glaze.

Their shared love for craftsmanship, beauty, and heartfelt giving lives on in our work today. Every piece created is a tribute to their legacy of kindness, creativity, and care.

At More Than Crafts, we don’t just make things; we carry forward the love, artistry, and devotion our mothers instilled in us. Thank you for allowing us to share a piece of their story — and ours — with you.
